Woodcut Blossoms Blog Hop with Heidi Pridemore and Friends

I am so excited to share my first signature group with Island Batik, called Woodcut Blossoms. To kick off our first group, I reached out to my fellow quilt designers and asked them to create a Free Project or block to share with all of you! 

 Today we are kicking off our Blog Hop showcasing the stunning blocks. Hop along to each designer's blog using the links at the bottom to find out about their free project and to collect your patterns. Now let's take a look at the Free block I designed for the Woodcut Blossoms Blog Hop. Our block is called Fairy Dance and the pattern is available here.  Our Free block finishes at 12" x 12".  I have done a video tutorial on how to make the Fairy Dance Block on our YouTube Channel, The Whimsical Workshop. Make sure to check it out. You can also purchase our Realm of the Fairies pattern to create 9" version of the block to make the wall hanging, table runner and placemats. 

Here are some other projects we have designed to showcase this beautiful collection. Our whimsical Dandelions at Dusk quilt is available as a fabric kit or pattern. Art Deco was designed by Matthew Pridemore. The pattern includes full size templates for easy assemble. Finally we re-did our Little Succulents pattern using our acrylic templates to create a stunning series of pillows.

We are back with another new block for Block Mania! This time the theme was Under The Sea and our block is called "The Great Escape".

This adorable block is a new addition to all our Under the Sea Collection. My first sea themed designed project was done back in 2003 and of course we called it "Under The Sea".

This has become one of our most popular patterns over the years and was the springboard for many other designs. Next up I designed "I'm Outta Here". This pattern added some new sea life friends to our adorable little fish and I even made the little worm as a 3-D element to the quilt.  

We were having so much fun with these adorable Sea Life quilts that I went on to design my favorite little quilt called "One Fish, Two Fish..." to use as our class sample for our class Fusible Applique, The Whimsical Workshop Way.

We went on to design a fabric line with Fabri-Quilt several years ago and you can see it here in our "Ollie the Octopus" Pattern

Finally we have started to feature our adorable Fish in Stickers available here. I have had so much fun adding our little fish to my water bottle, sewing machine and anywhere else I need a little whimsy.

WELL, after a 6 month break I am back with a new free block for Block Mania! This time the theme was Birds and our block is called "There is Always One".

Before we get into the details of that one, let's check out our finished quilt featuring the previous twelve blocks. These block patterns are still available for sale on our website for a a little longer while we work on combining them into one booklet.

The inspiration for my design was a childhood memory of how free and daring I was as a child. Here is the photo that captured my childhood spirit and was the model for my bird block design.
